KAKAROUGAS CHRISTOS

Dr. Christos Kakarougas holds a Doctoral Diploma (Ph.D.) from the School of Business Administration of the University of the Aegean with the title: The effect of reward systems on the stages and processes of organizational culture change in Greek five-star hotels. His career in the tourism industry began in 1999 in London where he worked in central hotels in various posts and departments. At the same time, he completed his postgraduate studies at Thames Valley University (now the University of West London) with specialization in Hospitality Management. In Greece he has worked in luxury hotels like the Grande Bretagne and the King George Palace in supervisory and managerial positions in various departments.

Since 2006 and for a number of years without interrupting his professional career in the tourism sector he turned to tourism education where he worked as an associate and part-time instructor of Tourism Business Administration in various private and public tourism schools such as the Anavyssos Tourism School of the Ministry of Tourism. In recent years he has been teaching in the postgraduate program “Master of Science in Tourism Entrepreneurship” of the University of West Attica and has given a significant number of lectures via video conference in the postgraduate program “Strategic Management of Tourism Destinations and Hospitality Businesses” of the University of the Aegean. In addition, he teaches the courses: Global Booking Systems, Entrepreneurship and Management and Administration of Hospitality Enterprises at the undergraduate level in the Department of Tourism Economics and Management of the University of the Aegean. Ηe also teaches at the Hellenic Open University. At the same time, he lectures in a variety of professional tourism seminars and participates as a speaker in tourism business fairs.

His research interests are in the fields of Human Resources Management and the Management of Tourist and Hotel Enterprises. He has published articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has made contributions to international and national peer-reviewed conferences. In addition, he has developed professional manuals and guides for the Labor Institute of the General Confederation of Greek Workers and the Institute of the Association of Greek Tourist Enterprises. In 2008 he successfully completed the annual pedagogical training program (EPPAIK) of ASPAITE, while he is a certified “Adult Educator of Non-Formal Education” by EOPPEP. In addition, from 2008 until 2022, he maintained TouristikiEkpaideysi.gr the unique up to date Greek web portal with rich free educational tourist content. He is married and has two children.
