UNDERSTANDING AND MANAGING SCOPE 3 EMISSIONS

Training Overview

This comprehensive training program is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to understand, measure, and manage Scope 3 emissions. These emissions, which occur both upstream and downstream in a company’s value chain, often constitute the majority of a company’s total greenhouse gas emissions and thus play a crucial role in sustainability and climate strategies. As organizations face increasing pressure to disclose their full greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, understanding Scope 3 emissions has become essential for achieving sustainability goals and regulatory compliance.

Scope of the Training

By the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  1. Define Scope 3 Emissions: Understand the concept of Scope 3 emissions and how they differ from Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
  2. Identify Emission Sources: Identify the various categories of Scope 3 emissions within an organization’s value chain.
  3. Measure and Calculate Emissions: Learn methodologies and tools for accurately measuring and calculating Scope 3 emissions.
  4. Develop Reduction Strategies: Create effective strategies to reduce Scope 3 emissions through supplier engagement, product design, and operational improvements.
  5. Report and Communicate Emissions: Gain proficiency in reporting Scope 3 emissions in line with international standards such as the GHG Protocol and communicating these efforts to stakeholders.
